Almost the Holiday Weekend!

Hey everyone. Happy Friday!

Since I don't really have a TON to say, I thought I'd share with you some random thoughts that have been swirling around in here. By here I mean my head.

Random Thought # 1
Has everyone checked out Google's new mapping system? I'm not 100 percent how "new" it is, but a coworker of mine directed me to their GPS page to track runs. I like it sooo much better than Map My Run. On MMR, you have to "pivot" around corners and mark every little turn you're making. On Gmaps Pedometer, it knows what trail you're talking about and doesn't move in straight lines! I feel my running distances have been much more accurate on this program.

Google also has a great feature for biking. You type in your starting address and your destination and it tells you the best way to get there by bike. You just have to select "biking" when you're typing in directions. Pretty nifty.

Random Thought # 2
I've been doing a lot, lot, lot of trail bike riding and running. Here's my question: to nod or not to nod?

When you pass people on a trail, do you nod or give a little smile? Or do you pretend you're not looking at them?

I find that when people give me a little nod, I appreciate it. I feel like we're sharing something and when I smile I'm almost saying "Yay! Look at us!"

But it stings when you smile at someone and they do nothing back.

Of course on busy trails it's hard to nod or smile at everyone, but when I'm on quieter trails, I like to give the little acknowledgement. How about you guys?

Random Thought # 3
My Gladiator workout review is finally on newsstands! Check out the June issue of Mpls.St.Paul Magazine for more. It's on page 38. (Sorry, it's not on the web...). In that same issue I suggest some of the top spots for being active in the Twin Cities by activity (hiking, biking, yoga, etc). Check it out!

Random Thought # 4
It's National Burger Day! Just in time for Memorial Day BBQs.

I just heart burgers. And to make them leaner I always use 93/7 beef and 80 calorie Sara Lee buns! Add lettuce, pickles, and cheese, MMMMM.

Now I want to head to a BBQ right now! Why did I post this?

Random Thought # 5
It's Friday so OF COURSE I'm thinking about the weekend.

I work my second job tonight and tomorrow during the day so there's goes half of it right there, but I need the cashola!

I'm really hoping to get a long run in this weekend. At least 10 miles. Most likely tomorrow or Sunday morning. Gotta step it up, half is in one week!

Sunday I have plans with friends and will most likely hit the town since Monday is a day off! And I'm helping my mom move a bunch of stuff on Monday since she's re-doing the kitchen. Exciting huh?

  1. Wow! Thanks for the tip about Google's mapping tool. It is much more user-friendly than Map My Run. And I'm starting to train for a ten miler so I will be sure to get lots of use from it. Thanks Sarah!
