Helmet + birthday pics!

Today I got to try out a fun, new "toy" I got for my birthday: a bike helmet!!

Yes, I'm nerdy enough that I asked for a bike helmet. I've felt like an absolute idiot biking to work without it. I'm swerving in between cars, dealing with rush hour in and out of downtown, and making my way around busses, all while not protecting my noggin! Dumb. I've worked hard for the info in my cabeza (that's head in Spanish, FYI).

As a kid I would have scoffed at the idea of wearing a bike helmet. And my parents never made me wear one. I biked and rollerbladed like WHOA as a kid and was never forced to put on a helmet, elbow pads, or anything.

But now as an adult, it really is foolish to not wear one. And I've been eyeing up people with helmets on thinking, OK maybe they're not as dorky as they once were?

Yeah, they're still not the sexiest thing on the planet but as I get older the motto Better Safe Than Sorry has been running through my head as I commute to work.

So today I rocked the helmet. It was a little tight and I wasn't used to it, but I was happy to have it on. So I took a pic for y'all!

Of course my number one concern was helmet hair. But this is right after I took my helmet off and I'd say there isn't a trace of helmet hair there. Of course, this hairstyle took me about 20 seconds.

PS how freaking cute are my sunglasses???? Sarah got them for me for my birthday. I'm in love!

And since I didn't have birthday pictures for you Monday, here are some of my faves. Notice the workout theme. People went all out, it was great!!

With sexy soccer studs Bryan and Angela. Bryan was my CA in college. Lurve them!

My BFFs. Dan (sweating hardcore!), Sarah, me, Nick (in his high school track uniform!), Nikki, and Eric

Two of my best ladies: Sarah and Kate

Out on the town. Gosh I love these people!
