I had Friday off and absolutely loved it. I got up around 9ish and went on a run around Lake Calhoun with Sarah. We were hot and tired so we didn't make it the whole way, but we got some activity nonetheless. Then Friday afternoon I had to work my second job in Sartell, which is right by St. Cloud. Thanks to 4th of July cabin traffic, I was in my car for more than two and a half hours to get there! I was crabby, tired, and hungry by the time I got to my job. I made it through my shift and immediately scarfed McDonald's when I was done. Bad, but by that time I didn't care!
Saturday morning we got up nice and early to hit the road to Welch, MN. Me and a dozen friends were camping and then going river tubing. It was only about an hour drive and we got there nice and early so we could get a camping spot. We found our spot and set up. Then we got ready and headed down the river.

It was a great, great time. Lots of beer and sun, plus some of the most fun people I know all tied together on a floating barge. Excellent.
We were done around dinnertime and cooked hot dogs. Then sat around a bonfire for hours. It was great! Sleeping in a tent was not so great, but is it ever?
Then Sunday morning we got up waaay early (6:30--I had no idea what time it was!) and started to clean and pack. We all felt like hell and were full of sand, so why not hurry home? We stopped for breakfast at Perkins and were home by 10, which was kind of great.
I called my mom and her and her bf were going to watch the Chanhassen 4th of July parade. I quickly showered to join them. I heart parades! And it was a great one.

Here's the Chaska High School dance team. Loved them in high school! They were great!
So spent the day with the family and even played a competitive game of Bocce Ball with my mom. We love that game.
And then we went to a friend's condo on the river to watch the Minneapolis fireworks. What a great view we had!
All in all, fab fab weekend. And with yesterday off, it was a long one.
Now it's back to life, back to reality. Until next weekend...
Gosh, isn't summer the best?

Sounds like you had a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou know what would make summer even more fun...having the summer off! I would love to have a job that allowed me to take the summer off. Oh, well. One can dream! ;-)
Camping is great fun. There's just something about being in the great outdoors.
ReplyDelete@Whitney - Try becoming a teacher. I don't know what the setup is in the states, but here in the UK, schools close for Summer break (about 6 or 7 weeks). Not bad eh?
