Happy Friday everyone!
I'm super pumped about this weekend because it is my first weekend in town in a month! A MONTH! While I have greatly enjoyed my weekends away, there's nothing like time spent at home. Plus, I'm gone the next two weekends after this! Phew!
I am starting to feel like my old self as I get back on track this past week. I've been working out over lunch (which has been hard, more on this in a minute) and I've been cutting back on the eating out (which has happened as a result of my putting off grocery shopping!). When I skip workouts and constantly don't eat healthy I start to feel in a funk. So I'm always a bit happy when Monday rolls around because it means my week routine can begin!
I'm always sooooo much better health-wise during the week. Isn't everyone?
Anyway, back to my lunchtime workouts. I have been absolutely, redonkulously swamped at work (hence my sporadic posting). Which means that come 11 a.m. most days I'm thinking "Hmm I'll skip my workout. I need to stay and work." But the reality is: what I need more is to get some exercise in and boost my endorphins!
Nothing pumps me up for the rest of the day like my lunchtime workout. Not only am I proud of myself, but I am able to not snack in the afternoon and I get a boost of energy. So really when I am swamped, what I need is to take that hour for myself and get a workout in.
And yesterday I did just that. I could have easily been at my desk the entire day but I really wanted to get at least one run in before my 10k tomorrow (eeeeeekkkkk!!!!). I haven't run in more than a week (who am I?). So I made a last minute decision to grab my gym bag and hit the treadmill. Boy am I glad I did! I ran 3 miles with no problems, sweat a TON (which always feels nice), and had a great, productive afternoon because of it.
So moral of the story: when it feels like you don't have time for a workout, you really do. You just need to make that #1 on your list!
And now it's Friday! Weekend time! Tonight I am lounging (which will feel amazing!) so I can get up and run 6 miles at 7:30 a.m. (hmmm doing races like this is a whole level of crazy, isn't it?). I'm excited for the 10k but nervous as well as I haven't trained or been running a ton lately. But either way, it'll be fine. I know I can run 6 miles (I've done it countless times before!), plus I'm running with Sarah, which always keeps me moving longer.
I'll have photos and an update on how it goes on Monday. Until then, enjoy your weekend!

It's awesome you can work out at lunch! I'd love to do that, but I don't know how I would fit it all into an hour. How do you keep from being sweaty the rest of the day, without taking more than an hour for lunch?
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your race tomorrow, I'm sure you'll do great. And it'll feel even greater when you've finished it!!
Go Team Sarah! Woo.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! You will do awesome!
