I was super tired yesterday morning thanks to the midnight showing of Eclipse. I was actually OK in the morning when my alarm went off, but as the day dragged on and I had a few meetings, I was gettin' sleepy.
I had my gym clothes and wanted to workout. Then I got an idea: I should go on a run! Then I got an even better idea: I should run over to the U!
One of the joys of working downtown is my lunchtime running routes. I can easily run to the river and run the Stone Arch Bridge—gorgeous.
But yesterday I realized I could run over the U of M. My alma mater!
I freaking love it over there. The Washington Avenue Bridge is great. The Mall is gorgeous. So I went to gmaps pedometer to see how long a run to the U would be. 2 miles there. Hmm a little longer than I normally run (usually just do 3-3.5 miles over lunch) but 4 miles would be do-able. And it was so gorgeous out!

So I headed East toward the Washington Avenue Bridge. The sun was out, students were there. It was so great. And the atmosphere totally helped keep me running despite not having my iPod.

Then I hit the Northrop Mall. Gorgeous. And I even got to run by the journalism school. Ah nostalgia.
And then I headed back toward downtown. Ran all 4 miles and felt absolutely amazing afterward. Totally perked me up for the rest of the day!
When I never worked out, I would often read about how a workout would help beat grogginess. But who wants to workout when groggy?? Well yesterday, it did the trick and I felt great all day!

And now it's almost the holiday weekend. My big plans are river tubing on Saturday and camping. I have NEVER camped before, so this should be an adventure. Planning on doing some relaxing and getting some sun the rest of the weekend. Can't wait!
Happy 4th of July everyone!

Today is my Friday, too! I love 4 day weekends! Have fun over the holiday!
